Heritage Lunches

A series of eight lunches to celebrate the diversity of our participants, exploring and understanding the importance of food, from family history and celebrations to tasting dishes abroad on a first holiday.  Many of our new communities talked about missing spices, and food items from home.  Our lunches were organised in a variety of settings, often linking to a heritage trip or a memory of a participant.  Our amazing chef Karen Heather took up the challenge to produce a variety of dishes for each themed meal that required hours of cooking!  Our Project Manager Alison Skeat turned her hand to running a bread and jam making session. We included a trip to Leigh-on-Sea to the Cockle Sheds and a meal of Fish and Chips in Southend to stir up memories of days out at the seaside.  Our Puddings Galore lunch reflected on good old school puddings, to our Carnival of Taste with a touch of spice.
